Alex Meixner - Director
Nominated for a
Grammy in 2007, Alex Meixner is a dynamic solo performer, composer, music educator and multiinstrumentalist. Alex graduated magna cum laude with bachelor's degrees in trumpet
performance and music education from Ithaca College School of Music in 1998. He earned a master's degree in trumpet performance at Penn State University while serving as a graduate teaching assistant in trumpet and jazz. He has been teaching master classes and adjudicating at solo/ensemble and jazz festivals ever since and considers himself a "zealous" music educator.
Tim Powell - Assistant Director
Saxophonist Tim Powell is an established performer with such diverse groups as the Baltimore Symphony Orchestra, Gloria Gaynor, the Four Freshman, Ben Folds, Frankie Avalon, the Steve Fidyk Big Band, and Frank Sinatra Jr. Tim is currently on faculty at Frostburg State University where he teaches saxophone, jazz theory and improvisation, and directs the jazz ensemble. Tim received his Master’s of Music in Jazz Studies from the University of Maryland, College Park and is currently continuing his studies towards a Doctor of
Musical Arts degree in saxophone performance.
Jerry Lynn - Director fo Jazz Strings
Jazz violinist, composer, arranger and luthier, Jerry earned his Bachelor of Music in Violin Performance at Penn State. Jerry is experienced in computer-based music production and has an eclectic approach to jazz performance and composition. He also enjoys studio and commercial work. Jerry released his first album, called "Hugh Indigo" in 2002. He is also a skilled luthier, building, repairing and restoring stringed instruments.
