Daily Activities at MADCAP Jazz
- Rehearsals – jazz ensembles for all instruments, advanced strings and voice. 9 am to noon.
- Add-on Improv Class - a class from noon to 12:50 pm, Monday through Thursday for those students who want additional, intensive work on their improv skills with Alex and Tim in a smaller group of highly motivated students.
- Jazz University – for those students wanting in-depth exposure to the history of jazz, jazz theory, listening, great jazz performers and everything else that makes jazz great. Our Grammy-nominated camp director, Alex Meixner, and his new assistant, Tim Powell, teach this class. Jazz University is for students also taking Add-on Improv, and it goes until 3:30 pm, Monday through Thursday.
- Elementary/Intermediate Jazz String camp – jazz ensembles, training and activities directed towards less experienced string players. 12:30 pm to 3:30 pm daily.
- Snack and social time – always a good time to relax and get to know each other
- Friday Concert – Come enjoy the results! Concert time for the morning camp is 11:00 am on Friday. The afternoon string camp concert is at 2:30 pm on Friday. Families, friends, teachers - everyone is invited!
